The Racine area which includes the communities of Racine, Caledonia,
Mount Pleasant, Sturtevant, Wind Point, North Bay, Elmwood Park,
Franksville and extreme eastern Raymond and Yorkville has over 80 parks.
These parks range from small community parks about 0.08 acre to large campgrounds and
bicycle trails up to 378 acres in size. Below is a list of Racine area parks and their addresses -
Note parks do not always have addresses so the closest address is listed
for use in computer mapping programs.

Regency Hills
Emstan Hills Road
Largely undeveloped parkland located east of Emstan Hills Road off of
Highway 31. No access from roads.
Riverside Park
2100 Horlick Drive
One of the many city parks that follows the Root River offering bank
shore fishing. This park is part of the Root River Pathway.

Roosevelt Park
2100 Roosevelt Park Drive
Fantastic views of lake Michigan and access for anglers. This park's
picturesque location east of the DeKoven foundation on lake Michigan makes
it one of the must sees in the city. Room for soccer or
football this park offers a community center, basketball courts. Fourth of
July Fireworks are visible from the extreme eastern part of the park along
the lake.

Root River Parkway
A group of county parks along the root river mostly undeveloped parkland along the Root River offering
bank shore fishing. Access points on Eight Mile Road, Seven Mile Road, Six
Mile Road, East River Road, Five Mile Road, Four Mile Road, Shorewood
Road, Rapids Drive
Just north of the Horlick dam on the east side of the root river, the
county has installed a canoe launch.
Root River Pathway
The Root River Pathway is a walking / bicycle trail that goes right through the city of Racine. The trail starts at the Racine Harbor downtown and follows the Root River crossing it many times. The trail passes through many parks including Clayton & Cedar Bend on its way to Washington park where the trail splits. The south leg continues on to Oak Park where it meets both the North Shore & The Racine - Sturtevant Bicycle Trails. The North Leg of the pathway continues through Riverside park, then through Island and Lincoln Parks to its end in Colonial Park.

Sanders Park

This park is for nature lovers! Designated a 30 acre State Scientific
Area, Sanders Park offers some of the finest trails featuring some of the
best examples of pre-settlement vegetation remaining in Racine County.
Over 90 species over indigenous wild flowers are found here and a small
creek meanders through the undisturbed forest floor. This park also
features 39 individual campsites (35 with electric), four small group
campsites, a comfort station with lavatories and showers and a sanitary
station for RV campers.

Sheridan Woods

Neighborhood Park featuring children's play equipment, baseball
diamond, bicycle / hiking trail and picnic tables.

Shoop Park Golf Course
4510 Lighthouse Drive
With the Wind Point Lighthouse just north of the course, this public 9-hole course built in 1920 on the shores of Lake
Michigan is a picturesque setting for golfer and artist alike. Fourth
of July Fireworks are visible, although far away.

Samuel Skewes Memorial Park
15084 Spring Street - Union Grove
Located 1/2 mile west of I-94 on the south side of Spring Street. The many
Black walnut trees in the park were planted by Samuel Skewes at age 84 in
1898 from nuts. The park was part of the Skewes family farm and was later
donated to the county in memory of Samuel Skewes. This park though having
limited parking features picnic tables, grills, a historical monument and
pit toilets.
