Ham Radio in Racine



Racine, WI is a very active place for Ham Radio Operators. There are many clubs and groups in the area. You can come visit a local club, join a coffee clutch or go on a hidden transmitter hunt.

Common Frequencies

Ham Radio Operators and Radio Scanner Buffs may find Racine area ham radio operators on the following frequencies:

  • 144.34 MHz
    The Racine Amateur Television Society members can be found often on this unchannelized FM simplex frequency.

  • 146.460 MHz
    You can often find activity on this FM simplex frequency. It is also occaisionally used by the Racine County ARES group.

  • 147.270 MHz (+)
    The Lakeshore Repeater Association, KR9RK operates this repeater on two meters. The machine does require you encode a subaudible tone of 127.3 Hz to access it.

  • 224.800 MHz (-)
    The Racine area has access to a fine 220 band repeater. The machine does require you encode a subaudible tone of 127.3 Hz to access it.

  • 441.81875MHz (+)
    The Racine County ARES operates the WI9RAC D-Star Digital repeater.

  • 442.000 MHz (+)
    The Lakeshore Repeater Association, KR9RK operates this repeater on 70 centimeters. The machine does require you encode a subaudible tone of 127.3 Hz to access it.

Local Ham Radio Groups

The Racine Megacycle Club
Founded in 1927, the Megacycle Club is an organization of Radio Amateurs in South-Eastern Wisconsin. The group is a fraternal organization and sponsors the area hidden transmitter (fox) hunts and operates the W9UDU station.

The Lakeshore Repeater Association
The Lakeshore Repeater Association, KR9RK is a non-profit 501c3 organization that maintains and run two area communications repeaters.

The Racine County Amateur Radio Emergency Service
The local branch of the national ARES. RCARES sponsors the EMCOMM group which meets weekly at the Volunteer Center of Racine County. The group spnsors the emergency communications trailer and operates the station WI9RAC.

Racine Amateur Television Society
The Racine Amateur Television Society (RATS) is a group of Ham Radio operators transmitting television signals. The group works in Slowscan (SSTV), Fast Scan (FSTV), and digital television modes.

The Volunteer Center of Racine County
Among its many activities, The Volunteer Center of Racine County (VCRC) operates the WI9VCR station and works closely with RCARES and the Racine Megacycle Club.

Gateway Technical College Amateur Radio Club
The club station at Gateway Technical College, they operate the N9GTC station.
